Had this iconic bike almost from new and sold it on with only 14,000 miles in 2010.  It was mint and unmolested and in the proper YAMAHA colours of red and white not SUZUKI blue and white which so many are.  It was one of the 1st 500 delivered to UK and never ever let me down.  I resisted putting a steering damper on her as so many did because growing up on 70's and 80's bikes I liked the "tank slappers" under control.  Only sold her for £3,500 including my number plate R1 5PED and must have been mad.  The R1 was a true ground breaker in 1998 and I loved mine.  I could ride that bike and ring it's neck to within a whisper of 100% capability which I have to admit I can't on the RSV4 - it was like a 2nd skin.
